Mosaic (Sept 6)

Happy Friday!

It's back-to-school week for us! It's also been a time of catching up after my husband and I enjoyed a week away together. I’ve been reflecting on how rest equips us for what’s ahead—whether it’s a peaceful morning coffee, soaking in God’s Word as balm for our weariness, or finding the motivation to move forward in obedience. With a fuller tank, I’m noticing the little moments more clearly and feeling more prepared to face the day.

As I reflect on rest, this passage from Isaiah comes to mind:

“Even youths shall faint and be weary,

    and young men shall fall exhausted;

but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;

    they shall mount up with wings like eagles;

they shall run and not be weary;

    they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:30-31)

While time away offers a valuable break from our routines, true rest goes deeper than physical relaxation. Only God can refresh our weary souls and restore our hearts. When we wait on Him, He renews our strength in ways that vacations and downtime can’t. Whether in the midst of busy schedules or moments of stillness, it’s His presence that gives us the endurance to keep going, the peace to face challenges, and the grace to live fully. As we seek rest, let’s remember to seek the One who offers lasting refreshment for both body and soul.

How can you create space in your daily life to wait on the Lord and experience His renewing strength?

Grace & Peace,

Amber

In Articles

I come from a long line of journal-keepers. My grandmother maintained a journal from her teenage years, although she burned those early entries, fearing they might be read by others. My aunt, cousin, and I would often receive journals from her as Christmas gifts. In this article, Amy highlights how journaling provides an opportunity to reflect on our patterns of sin and renew our minds. You'll discover how writing can be a powerful tool for personal reflection and growth.

A photographer writes about the world he lives in, one we can only see if we take a look.

I loved how Marissa explains this, "“Faking it” was how it felt. But perhaps that isn’t giving myself (and the Holy Spirit) enough credit. In seasons when our hearts and minds aren’t on the same page, going through the motions isn’t being “inauthentic”, rather it indicates a deeper belief that the Gospel of Grace is bigger than our temporary feelings."

Faith in Dry Seasons | Kate Brown (Chasing Sacred)

Tagging along the theme of faith and feelings, "When walking through a dry season, we can rest assured that God's love for us is not based on our emotions or our works but is steadfast." What does it look like practically when you're in the desert? She points out a few ways to persevere in faith.

Writing Prayers for Others | Kenneth Berding

How often do you write prayers for others—whether in texts, emails, or handwritten cards? The few I’ve received are tucked away in my drawer, treasured as acts of kindness and blessing. If you haven’t started yet, be encouraged to begin today.
