We don't like to talk about sin.
Living as God's children, as heirs with Christ, we stand as his children, dead to sin and alive in him, free from a life bound in sin in order to live for the praise and glory of his name.
But, despite our newness in Christ, our journey continues on in the flesh which tempts and tries us daily. Paul felt this tension as he shares with the Roman church, "for I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me (Rom 8:18-20).
Our yearning for good weighs in contrast to our fondness of the flesh.
Scripture reminds us, "for freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery" (Gal 5:1) and to instead, "bear fruit in keeping with repentance" (Matt 3:8).
The Momma Theologians team has been putting together a Guide for Wise Smartphone Use and I had the opportunity to put together this study on repentance as one part of the workbook, and it's being offered as a free download!
We will journey through the life of Josiah as a model of humble repentance and how we can draw near to the Lord with the same humility and find grace to meet us there.
Whether you've been journeying with the Lord a long while or short, facing sin is an ever-present part of our Christian life, so click on the links to grab your free study.
