This weekend we are traveling out to Birds Hill Park. I'm looking forward to some time away from home for a few days, to enjoy the outdoors and do some exploring! Hoping that the weather will cooperate just a little...as unpredictable as May can be.
I've found myself reflecting on prayer this week, as the Spirit has been nudging people into my thoughts; friends struggling with surgery for a brain tumour, those I encounter at work, missionary friends in the midst of difficult transitions.
I was really challenged this week with these words by Marilyn Mcintyre:
"To pray well and faithfully is to pray attentively and expectantly, noticing where needs arise and noticing also how God might already be acting and answering."
The Lord does not fail to act, nor is He failing to respond in the crises we experience. He is with us and unites us as the body of Christ to pray and respond with love and compassion. I was reminded to be attentive and expectant as I pray, not as if to check off a to-do list, but with an alertness and trust that He is already present.
How can you pray attentively and expectantly today?
