My Mosaic (Apr 21)

Happy snowy Friday!

What would spring in Manitoba be if not for another winter storm??

I'm gazing out my window this morning to a scene that could be painted in January -blustery winds and drifts of snow - waiting to find out if they are canceling school. Last week we had glimpses of warmth and sunshine, hinting at the summer season to come. The last few days squashed that and we've reverted back to winter.

It's just spring on the Canadian prairies, the transition to summer is chaotic, like when you first learned how to drive stick-shift and gave your dad whiplash from the experience.

Everyone at the grocery store gave a despairing sigh when they heard anyone talk about the winter (spring) storm, a gloominess set in. It's like that when we feel tired of the way things are and wish for it to be different. Not so unlike our circumstances sometimes when things don't turn out how we expected.

Proverbs 19:21 reminds us, "many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand." Maybe this morning you're wondering if the weather will cancel classes or if the stormy winds gusting in your life will ever end. Remember God has a purpose for your life today. Look up to Him instead of fixing your eyes on the trouble beneath your feet. His purposes will stand, even if, and especially if, it's not what we wanted.
